A Heavy Coat That's Light On Your Wallet

Many San Diegans never bother to buy heavy coats. With warm days year-round, it seems like an unnecessary expense. But when those few gusty, drizzly days do come around, it feels tempting to head to the mall and snag a stylish and (often) expensive piece of wool.

Whether you live in a climate like mine or a more consistently frigid one, heavy coats do not have to be a threat to your pocket book. The Italian-made coat pictured below was purchased for less than $20 US at a local AmVets Thrift Store. Not only do you find guilt-free bargains at stores like AmVets and The Salvation Army, you help support their humanitarian programs.

I envy you for living in a warm place!! It's always cold in England, meaning a good coat does go far.

I love the style and colour of your coat.

Nice coat!
I like the pants colour.

but I;m always think about how to clean these kind of winter coats,
coz always we need to dry clean, and it's not that cheap...I wonder if there is a way to wash by ourselves....?

You, my friend, have found an incredible item! I rarely have this much luck shopping for vintage clothes (jewelry is another story - that I can do).

Hope all is well! And I wish you a very merry holiday season and a happy 2011!

xoxo,
Jessica

Love the new coat definition - "a stylish and (often) expensive piece of wool". This should be in dictionaries :)

But wow, 20 USD? Only possible in the US!

That jacket is great. I feel like San Diego's weather is just fickle enough that I need a large jacket.
