SMS Girl :: Vinda Sonata

Vinda Sonata is a fashion blogger with a flair for the dramatic and an eye for atypical combinations. This week she was nice enough to lend us her unique perspective on men's fashion from her home in Bandung, Indonesia:

"I'd love seeing more statement jackets for men! Trophy jackets, motorcycle jackets, and MJ's military jackets. Seeing men wearing them really makes me think that they're not only fashionable ones, but also adventurous ones. It's always nice seeing men daring enough to shake the conventional standards."

Regarding dislikes in menswear, she says, "I've seen too many men in graphic tees and checkered shirts. I'd really love to see someone who dares to stand out in the crowd. Why not add the tough elements using beat-up studded combat boots or a pair of deconstructed jeans? I'd also love to see more men caring about the textures of their clothing."

When asked how the city of Bandung affects her style, Vinda humorously replies, "This place does not affect my style at all. I learn mostly from the net, fashion magazines like Nylon, and lookbook."

Oh I couldn't agree more with it being nice to see men "daring enough to shake the conventional standards". Actually, sometimes this applies to women too. Anyways, I love you wrk on the pictures, especially the second one! And I really like what I see when I follow the "~ GiH" link :)

She is gorgeous! I love her style. I agree, guys in statement jackets (especially leather) really do look cool.

I have to say that "rude" is not a good word. I didn;t know how to describe it :).
I am just known as a "I am the best so fuck the rest" girl. Sometimes peoples that don't even know me thinks that they know better than me :)
They call me superficial and stuff and sometimes it's even funny :), to look at their hypocrisy... I just like to proove them wrong and when I'm doing it I don't dress in the nice words :D.

And know I would like to say something about your note. In my country I would like to see more often guys with bags other than a backpack or large sports bags for trening. The overwhelming majority still believes that the accesories insult their masculinity. Of course, there are many well-dressed men here, but the general condition of wardrobes, in my opinion, is still hopeless.

I highly agree with both answers...esp dislikes. Enough graphic tees.

That was a really interesting snapshot interview, being able to see how women feel about mens' personal style. I like the idea of our looks being fashionable but 'adventurous' at the same time

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your thoughts on Vinda and her menswear views. It helps me understand women's views on men better. I'm definitely going to retire some of my graphic tees!

Julia — It's nice to know someone clicks the links I put up every once in a while :)
I'm surprised you noticed I had worked on the photos. But yes, I did add the background colors!

TeenageDirtbag — That's interesting what you said about men in your country. I will have to just interview/feature you on here.

Haha :) Well, I believe that if someone links something, they do it for a reason!
